How Long Should You Burn Aromatherapy Candles for the First Time?

Burn for at least 20 minutes each time.

In general, burning for 20 to 40 minutes at a time will fill the room with a fresh and fragrant aroma. However, it’s best not to burn for more than two hours, as an overly saturated scent might have the opposite effect. Your nose can become discerning after experiencing high-quality candles and can distinguish between good and poor aromatherapy candles.

Most candles come in glass containers, and it’s advisable not to burn them for more than three hours, as glass may not handle the heat well. It’s better to burn a candle for more than 20 minutes; avoid burning it for just 5-10 minutes. If the burning time is insufficient, the wax around the edges won’t melt properly, causing the candle to burn down the middle while leaving the edges untouched, thus shortening the candle’s lifespan.

Additionally, avoid blowing out the candle with your mouth, as it can damage the candle and produce black smoke and a smoky smell. The correct method is to use a snuffer to dip the wick into the wax or cover it directly with the snuffer, then straighten it.
